It all begins with an idea. My idea came to me after years of juggling criminal legal defense work, when I least expected it. After a long day at the office, it made sense to me to come home and start baking. It was therapeutic, to knead the stress of the day away into some delicious sugar cookie dough. Pretty soon the occasional batch of cookies became a staple in my house. Then I started to experiment with themed designs for friends’ birthdays and luncheons. Somewhere along the line I began accepting orders for cookies, all different shapes and sizes, custom made to match any and every event! Through wonderful organizations such as Icing Smiles and Cakes 4 Kids, I am able to bake cakes and cookies for children who would otherwise go without. Whether a child is battling an illness and just needs a “spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down,” or whether a child is in an unfortunate situation and living without a family to wish them a happy birthday, receiving a sweet treat can mean the world. In addition, I take time to support local organizations fighting for social justice and equality.
